Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to support plant operations by ensuring safety and high-quality product delivery. This role involves troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis for manufacturing issues, supporting maintenance and production teams, and working on capital projects for continuous improvement and upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Support plant operations by troubleshooting and resolving equipment failures.

  • Act as a technical resource for plant operations, maintenance teams, and other controls engineers.

  • Develop, plan, and execute technical solutions including creating equipment bills of materials, scopes of work, and estimates for various projects.

  • Facilitate the implementation of electrical and control standards across the manufacturing environment.

  • Commission and maintain equipment to ensure it meets operational standards.

  • Perform PLC and HMI programming, troubleshooting, and editing.

  • Conduct root cause analysis for manufacturing issues and develop sustainable solutions.

  • Support varying capital projects focused on continuous improvement and upgrades.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with manufacturing processes in industrial plants, preferably in the Food and Beverage industry.

  • Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming, particularly with Allen Bradley and FactoryTalk.

  • Ability to read and design electrical layouts, including power distribution and panel layouts.

  • Knowledge of control systems, including ladder logic, automation, and instrumentation.

  • Experience with troubleshooting machines, PLCs, and automated systems.

  • Familiarity with controls networks, infrastructure, and security systems (Ignition is a plus).

  • Proficiency in using tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, RSLogix, and Siemens PLC.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Rockwell PLC/HMI and electrical design in a manufacturing setting.

  • Capability to provide technical support and automation solutions to address manufacturing challenges.

  • Experience in leading the adoption and implementation of electrical and control standards.

  • Project management skills, including proposal reviews and status updates.

Work Environment

This role operates within a manufacturing environment, which includes varying and colder temperatures inside the plant. The position requires spending time both in the office and on the plant floor. May require occasional travel to other plant locations.
