Our global research on human-machine intelligence focuses on Big Data Visual Analytics, Explainable AI (XAI), Audio Analytics, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Engineering, XR/AR/MR, Computer Vision, and Cloud Robotics. We develop intelligent and trustworthy AIoT solutions to enable inspiring UX for Bosch products and services in application areas such as autonomous driving, driver assistance systems (ADAS), robotics, smart manufacturing, health care, smart home and building solutions.

As a part of our global research unit, our Intelligent Autonomous Systems group is responsible for enabling future autonomous Bosch products by developing cutting-edge technologies and prototype systems in the fields of autonomous driving, automation and robotics. These include methods for localization, motion planning, high level task planning and decision making as well as systems for making these technologies work on real products, building frameworks that take advantage of technologies in the fields of reliable distributed computing and network connectivity. We work with internal partners of different Bosch business units to transfer our solutions into future products. We also actively collaborate with leading groups in academia and industry to promote research ideas and publish research findings in internationally renowned conferences and journals, e.g. CVPR, ICRA, IROS, RSS, NeurIPS, CoRL and ICML.

Job Description

  • Conduct advanced research and engineering in distributed systems and robotic middleware frameworks to address practical challenges found in todays autonomous systems.

  • Apply research results to real-world applications with high quality implementation

  • Integrate the resulting system/software into existing Bosch platform

  • Summarize research findings in high-quality paper and/or patent submissions

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. student or highly qualified M.S. student in Computer Science, Robotics, or related fields (Must be a current student or recent graduate – less than 1 year)

  • Strong background in robotics or distributed systems

  • Solid C++, Python and/or Rust programming skills

  • Experience with robotics middlewares such as ROS2 or FogROS2

Preferred Qualifications

  • Publication record in top venues (ICRA, IROS, RSS, CoRL, HRI, ICML, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS).

  • Background in embedded systems, distributed systems, operating systems and/or real-time systems is a plus.

  • Background in cloud computation and/or network protocols is a plus.

  • Prior experience in robotic learning, perception, deep learning, robotic navigation or robotic motion planning is a plus.

  • Able to work independently, has strong research and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong background in math and statistics is a plus.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Additional Information

The U.S. base salary range for this intern position is $43.00-$66.00 per hour. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, type of degree, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, type of position, job location, etc. Your Hiring Manager can share more details about the specific salary range for this position during the interview process.
