Amazon Security Engineering Manager, Kuiper Security in Sunnyvale, California

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Have you wanted an opportunity to develop software for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The Kuiper Security team owns the operational security of the constellation end-to-end. We provide the necessary infrastructure to establish secure communications and strong authentication, enabling the confidentiality for our customers and security for our constellation.

This team drives the research & development, deployment and operations of several mission-critical security systems for the Kuiper constellation end-to-end. You will work in a start-up like culture to bootstrap software systems focused on security, and help instill the security culture in the organization.

We are looking to hire a Security Engineering Manager that has experience in leading the technical conversation, guiding the security decisions while building large-scale, complex system security services. You will work with a diverse, multi-disciplinary security engineering team to determine the requirements and set the bar for our security best practices and systems development.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with our peer teams and customers to design suitable software & security systems and interfaces for risk management and compliance.

  • Collaborate with security and software engineers on third party security, supply chain security.

  • Collaborate with Governance, Risk & Compliance to define the risk context for the business.

  • Drive secure by design architecture

  • Provide vision, coaching, and direction across a variety of security domains spanning supply chain security, third party security, risk management, auditing and governance.

  • Utilize AWS and other Amazon technologies to build high-available software services

  • Set and clarify requirements and expectations with your team, peers, and customers.

  • Drive creation of mechanisms from a security, quality, and speed perspective that enable Kuiper Security to scale.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of industry experience with hands-on security engineering experience

  • 5+ years leading, managing & developing high performance teams. (inclusive of coaching and mentoring)

  • BA/BS in computer science, information security, related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years Software Development or Software Development Management experience.

  • Hands-on knowledge of information security technologies such as security design review, threat modeling, risk analysis, and software testing techniques.

  • Excellent written communication skills, with a focus on translating technically complex issues into simple, easy to understand concepts

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operational excellence

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $157,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
