The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager for the UI Frameworks Team.

Description

In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive a team that directly impacts the way developers and customers interact with our products. You will ensure that the user experience is always front and center while collaborating with cross-functional partners across software, human interface, and hardware teams. This role also places an emphasis on mentorship and team building, as you will manage managers and mentor engineers, helping them grow in their careers at Apple. Your leadership will foster an inclusive, diverse, and innovative team culture where the best ideas thrive. Responsibilities will include the following: - Lead and mentor a diverse, world-class team of software engineers and managers working on core components and infrastructure that builds the User Interface visionOS, including presentations, gaze-based hover effects, and core SwiftUI infrastructure supporting volumetric applications and experiences. - Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, especially design and human interface teams, to create cohesive and intuitive UI interactions. - Take a hands-on approach to driving the API story for many of the foundational aspects of the SwiftUI framework as it pertains to visionOS. - Create an inclusive team culture where every voice is heard, the best ideas are pursued, and a diverse team thrives. - Manage the delivery of complex software projects on time, while maintaining a focus on code quality, performance, accessibility, and scalability. - Act as a key technical leader and decision-maker, guiding the team through challenging technical debates and ensuring that decisions reflect a broader Apple-wide perspective. - Mentor and grow a diverse team of engineers and engineering managers, fostering career growth and encouraging continuous learning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required

  • At least 8 years of experience in software development, with experience managing managers and leading engineering teams, ideally with a focus on framework design and user-interaction paradigms

  • Proven track record as a user experience-obsessed product owner, with a passion for delivering intuitive, user experiences that delight users.

  • Proven success collaborating with cross-functional partners, especially design teams, to ensure that product development is aligned with both technical feasibility and design excellence.

  • Proven ability to drive inclusive team culture, ensuring diversity of thought, background, and experience, with a commitment to building accessible software for all users.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide teams through complex technical challenges and make decisions with a broad Apple-wide perspective.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on AR/VR platforms

  • Experience with other UI frameworks (React, Flutter, Xamarin, etc)

  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and development environments

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $219,300 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
