Amazon Software Development Engineer, Android Framework in Sunnyvale, California

This is a Android Framework team for Device OS organization

The Device OS team is responsible for the board bring up, low level software, operating system, core framework feature development, and end-to-end system functions, such as power/performance, that bring the devices to life. For many devices, the Device OS team takes the open source Android distribution and productizes the software on Amazon hardware. For devices that don’t run Device OS, the Device OS team is responsible for the low-level software. The software built by the Device OS team runs on all Amazon devices.

The Role:

Using a combination of open source and proprietary technologies, we build cutting-edge devices for media consumption, whether or in the home.

As a strong customer advocate, you will help own media technologies and quality end to end (E2E). You will work with internal and external partners to deliver the best in class devices, and will research new technologies, develop new and help deYne processes to build the media of next generation devices. We are looking for a talented, detail-oriented and enthusiastic Software Development Engineer who is passionate about quality and is enthusiastic about new digital products. The person chosen for this position will have the opportunity to contribute their creative ideas and energy to our group.

Duties include research, design, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of new and existing and the creation of software services and to drive the software development process towards higher quality.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience with software development for devices or embedded systems

  • Experience with Middleware system development

  • Experience working with Android Internals

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
