Amazon Sr. Hardware Compliance Technical Program Manager in Sunnyvale, California

Description

As a HW Compliance Technical Program Manager within the Hardware Compliance Engineering organization, you will partner with an experienced cross-functional team across engineering, product management, operations and legal teams to drive the implementation of our compliance plan. You will have technical expertise in the compliance and certification processes and be responsible for overseeing wireless, safety, and industry compliance activities and process. This role involves coordinating with external certification bodies and testing laboratories to ensure Amazon products meet global compliance standards. Your contributions will span the entire product design lifecycle—from concept to sustaining. You will help ensure that the groundbreaking products we build are safe and compliant for global markets.

You will anticipate bottlenecks, drive risk and escalation management, make data-driven tradeoffs, and balance customer and business needs versus technical constraints. The ability to absorb inputs from stakeholders, develop cohesive plans, identify risks, and then prioritize and deliver them in a successful and timely manner is critical in this role. You will clearly communicate goals, requirements, risk, and timelines to internal cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own and drive end-to-end program strategy, execution and risks to ensure successful launch of new products.

  • Collaborate with HW Compliance Engineering, Product Management, Legal, Operations and other key cross-functional stakeholders during all phases of the program.

  • Ownership and delivery of key compliance documentation for international certification approval.

  • Deliver programs in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, while demonstrating leadership, technical competence, and strong communication skills.

  • Develop and document processes to continually improve efficiency and reduce complexity in operations.

About the team

You will be part of the Hardware Compliance Engineering team responsible for compliance and international approval of Amazon consumer devices. We do this by leveraging our global diverse foundation of subject matter experts and robust processes and mechanisms. Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Deep understanding of new product introduction and hardware development processes.

  • Proficiency with business applications (ex: Word, Excel, etc.) and cloud-based collaboration tools (ex: Confluence, JIRA).

  • Experience with international approval/global market access and certification process.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives

  • Experience with one or more of the compliance functional areas such as safety, regulatory, energy efficiency that applies to global certification requirements.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
