Description

A Clinician in our Family Transitions outpatient program provides specialized services to local youth and their families who are faced with challenges related to sexual abuse.  Children referred for treatment may have displayed problematic or harmful sexual behaviors and/or have endured sexual victimization. Using a family systems approach, this position places a strong emphasis on the involvement and participation of parents/families, and will require skills aimed at developing a strong partnership to achieve this goal.

This is a full time position with a generous benefits package.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Carry a caseload of up to 15 families through a collaborative contract with Onondaga County Department of Social Services along with additional cases as assigned through Child and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS) for families with NYS Medicaid in need of specialized sexual abuse services. (Identified clients may include, child, parent, family, or a combination of such)

  • Participate in trainings to learn about the role and implementation of CFTSS, along with trainings relevant to specialized sexual abuse services and working with children, adolescents and families.

  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with youth and parents/caregivers.

  • Provide individual, parent, and family therapy, as indicated.

  • Co-facilitate psycho-educational groups with children/adolescents and/or parents/caregivers.

  • Assist in providing trainings to collaborative partners.

  • Maintain an ongoing partnership/collaboration with collaborative agencies.

  • Assist in the supervision of MSW Graduate Interns, as indicated.

  • Develop and implement therapeutic intervention and treatment plans.

  • Complete timely treatment notes, treatment plans, treatment and discharge summaries, and other required documentation.

  • Assist in program development tasks.

  • Travel and attend meetings in the community and client homes to carry out responsibilities for home visits, service plan meetings, and other meetings, as indicated.

  • Attend weekly supervisions and staff meetings.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Relevant NY State licensure (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or LMFT), or license eligible.

  • Valid and clean NYS driver’s license, with reliable transportation.  

  • Demonstrated high levels of written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to be flexible, empathetic, and work both independently and on a team.

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft word, excel and email.

  • Preference given to those with experience with clientele and family systems.

     

    Essential Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to safely lift/lower 10 pounds with or without assistance.

  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend or squat.

  • Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion.

  • Ability to walk up and downstairs.
