SUNY Upstate Medical University Evening Chaplain in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary: The Evening Chaplain will follow up on all consult requests for Spiritual Care. Answer all emergent and trauma requests for Spiritual Care. Follow up on all Spiritual Care referrals. Collaborate and consult with other Department of Spiritual Care chaplains, spiritual care volunteers, and Diocesan Chaplain on duty to triage spiritual care. This is a Evening staff chaplain position covering the 1400-2230 shift that provides clinically trained, broadly interfaith, ministry as well as faith specific spiritual care, to the entire hospital population.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Divinity/Theology or equivalency, endorsed and/or ordained and in good standing with one's faith tradition and a minimum of 2 years experience working in a clinical setting plus excellent written/oral and interpersonal skills and ability to be a team player required. The ideal candidate will have 4 units (1600 hours) of Clinical Pastoral Education from the ACPE and be Board Certified, or eligible by one of the three major national pastoral care organizations (Association of Professional Chaplain, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, National Association of Jewish Chaplains) or must obtain within three years of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Chaplaincy experience in a Level I trauma center preferred.

Chaplain experience in an academic medical center preferred.

Chaplain experience in a hospital offering Clinical Pastoral Education preferred.

Skilled in working independently and interdependently preferred. Excellent communication skills preferred.

Work Days:

Sunday - Thursday 1400-2230
