SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital Patient Services Clerk 2 in Syracuse, New York
Job Summary:
Schedule based on a 40-hour work week. Must be available to work Monday- Friday, between the hours of 8:00am- 5:30pm. Duties include but not limited to: Manage all front-end processes, obtain insurance authorizations for all routine and complex PM&R services; interact with patients, Upstate departments, outside physician offices and insurance carriers in order to resolve authorization issues; activate registrations; coordinate and obtain all appropriate paperwork for billing and compliance. Assist with front desk area to schedule follow up appointments, scan chart information and answer phones. Will flex between sites as needed for coverage including call center. May work on special projects to assist business manager as needed. Working knowledge of various insurance authorization policies and procedures preferred, ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment and excellent customer service skills necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:

NYS Department of Civil Service Eligible list or eligible for transfer

Promotional:
You must be a qualified employee of the State University of New York and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Hospital Patient Services Clerk 1 or as a Nursing Station Clerk 1
Or
Open Competitive (Non-competitive, NY HELPS) Qualifications:
Two years of full-time clerical experience in a health care setting; or two years of full-time secretarial experience in a health care setting; or two years of full-time patient care experience in a health care setting.
