The roles of expert practitioner change agent, consultant, educator/innovator and liaison arefulfilled in these functions.EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:Current New York State RN license; experience in pertinent areas of nursing practice, graduate of accredited Nurse Practitionerprogram, Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred, clinical affiliate of medical staff, National certification as Nurse Practitioner or activepursuit within one year.Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas ofexpertise.SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Exam equipment pertinent to practice area, advanced skills in health history taking and physical assessment, skills in evaluatinglaboratory data, EKG and CXR interpretation, skills in assessing, planning and implementing a plan of care for specific patients andfamilies, while collaborating with nursing staff, physicians and ancillary staff, practice protocols as designated in agreement withsupervising/collaborating physician.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:Clinical setting – Exposure Class I –routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Medium work – must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push and pull.WORK CONTACT GROUP:All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors and various regulatory and professional agencies.SUPERVISED BY:Medical Director/Supervising and Collaborating Physician.SUPERVISES:N/ACAREER PATH:General Performance Criteria: Nurse PractitionerExpectationsExceeds Meet Below· Accumulates and documents a comprehensive health history frompatient, family and other accessible sources.· Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology.· Demonstrates use of advanced physical assessment skills.· Provides and documents a comprehensive physical examination.· Demonstrates knowledge of routine laboratory data.· Identifies patient problem and communicates with physician in a timely manner.· Functions as a patient/family advocate while meeting hospital responsibilities.· Maintains patient/family confidentiality.· Knows and demonstrates limits of practice.· Demonstrates clear communication skills while dealing with staff,physicians and colleagues.· Make age appropriate assessments of patient needs and/or problems.· Interacts with patient in an appropriate manner, sensitive to his/herstages of human development.· Actively participates in development of practice guidelines, hospitalcommittees, and interacts with other staff members as appropriate.· Provides formal and/or informal in-services to nursing staff as appropriate.· Participates in active patient teaching relevant to patient’s concerns/diagnosesincluding but not limited to preventative health maintenance issues.· Understands and conceptualized the role of the Nurse Practitioner whiledemonstrating an ability to inform the public and hospital staff regarding the role.· Acts as a liaison between patient, hospital staff, physician and betweennursing staff and physician.· Exhibits a commitment to teamwork.· Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement.Researcher:· Participates in Performance Improvement and Monitoring.· Applies current concepts and findings from research and/or studies to practice.

Pay Range: $62.50-$73.11

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
