SUNY Upstate Medical University Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail), SG006 in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

Duties include but are not limited to: Issue supplies utilizing various methodologies including par level filing, call-down requests, filling of faxed or hand delivered requisitions sheets. Critical station and kit supply assembly, verification and delivery. Will provide customer service response to telephone requests for product information and product requests. Will complete documentation for return, stock-outs and expired products as necessary. Assists in maintenance of stock room; Unpacks supplies and stock shelves; keeps distribution area clean and free of boxes. Must demonstrate ability to lift and move heavy boxes and carts using proper body mechanics and manual dexterity; follow written instructions from cards and manuals; effective communication skills; ability to move swiftly in emergencies; use of all five senses (with adequate correction). Performs routine and unskilled work such as carrying supplies and equipment, Moves heavy supplies, furniture, and equipment. Moves items to and from storerooms and/or warehouses; maintains storage areas; tracks and records package movement within a facility. Delivers forms and supplies to various offices; assists in the receiving and shipping of various office materials. May perform office-related activities such as filing, alphabetizing, photocopying, sorting and delivering mail, inventorying and storing records or supplies on shelves, bins and/or on the floor; documents work performed and labor and materials used. Must demonstrate the ability to lift and move heavy boxes and carts using proper body mechanics and manual dexterity; follow written instructions from cards and manuals; effective communication skills; ability to move swiftly in emergencies; use of all five senses (with adequate correction). Must be able to lift 35 pounds to shoulder height. Must be able to sustain long periods of standing & walking.

Work Days:

Schedule based on a 40 hour work week. Monday-Friday, hours vary between the hours of 5:30pm-2:00am, some weekends required
