THE ROLE

As an Operations Supervisor you will lead staff in the completion of all aspects of the conversion and janitorial processes in preparation for events as well as cleanup after events. The position while at The Oncenter is part of the Local 158 International Union of Operating Engineers. Union members are required to pay membership dues.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Lead staff in the completion of all aspects of the cleaning and maintenance of the facility(ies) in preparation for, and cleanup after events. Duties may include setting up and tearing down portable chairs, removable seats, other furnishings and equipment, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, dressing rooms, Event Center and other public areas, as well as trash and recyclable cleanup.

  • Direct and supervise personnel, ensuring the day-to-day operations of the facility are met.

  • Operate and supervise proper usage of vacuum cleaners, trash compactor, leaf blower, and golf carts.

  • Lead the proper cleaning of all company venues.

  • Assist in the development of staff, including training employees on procedures and equipment.

  • Assist in maintaining equipment, tools, and supply inventory, report irregularities, discrepancies, safety concerns, damage concerns or loss of property promptly to Management.

  • When not supervising, perform the tasks of operations staff.

  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and

  • One-year related experience required, -OR-

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be able to maintain predictable and reliable attendance.

  • Must be able to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled overtime shifts as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and courteous manner which fosters a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.

  • Excellent hospitality and customer service skills, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.

  • Basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.

  • Mature judgment and professionalism in handling all matters.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Must have the physical ability to bend, stoop, and maneuver around facility(ies), at times, extensive walking and/or standing for 8-10 hours or greater as required.

  • Ability to exert well-paced mobility to move quickly to the different areas of the facility as demands require.

  • Position requires constant walking, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying 75+ lbs.
