SUNY Upstate Medical University Research Support Specialist in Syracuse, New York
Job Summary:
The Research Support Specialist will support research efforts of the Howell lab by fulfilling maintenance duties as well as carrying out scientific research, in collaborative and/or independent fashion. Our research the role of signal transduction pathways in the regulation of brain developmental and in neuronal degeneration particularly those that impact Autism Spectrum Disorder and Alzheimer's Disease. General laboratory maintenance will include monitoring supplies, maintenance of animal colony, and preparation of lab reagents. In addition, they will gain expertise in a variety of experimental techniques. The potential techniques include: preparation of tissue samples; tissue culture; fluorescence and confocal microscopy; DNA, RNA, and protein analyses by gel electrophoresis, western blotting, PCR, qCPR, and sequence analysis. They will engage in data interpretation and analysis, and report preparation. If results are included in publications, they will be appropriately acknowledged in the published manuscripts. Good organizational and record-keeping skills are required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience or related fields
Preferred Qualifications:
One to two years previous lab experience preferred.
