SUNY Upstate Medical University Research Support Specialist in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

1) Perform tick identification, RNA extraction, and multiplex RT-PCR pathogen testing.

2) Analyze Citizen Science tick surveillance and other tick testing data: [i] Impact of climate change on tick and pathogen emergence; [ii] Spatio-temporal changes in tick populations and pathogen prevalence; [iii] Ecological and environmental impact on tick and pathogen emergence.

3) As needed, help with tick collection at field sites.

4) Assist in developing public/social media/website messaging content [video/audio/text] for the Citizen Science Tick surveillance program

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Biological sciences or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Days:

M-F generally 9-5.
