SUNY Upstate Medical University Senior Purchase Assistant in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Senior Purchase Assistant will be responsible for assisting all aspects of the procurement process to include processing of requisitions to create purchase orders for services, capital equipment, medical-surgical supplies, printing and other miscellaneous items. Will be responsible for placing ads in the NYS Contract Reporter System. Make entries into Lawson, SUNY, Cobblestone and the NYS accounting systems. Reconcile invoices with Accounts Payable and vendors. Use procurement card for purchases, where appropriate; logging, tracking and reconciling expenditures. This Senior Purchase Assistant will be the Lawson superuser and will be the go-to person for any Hospital Purchasing Lawson related training and maintenance. The superuser will communicate and train Hospital Purchasing staff and any new changes or features implemented. Manage the p-card program for the hospital side of operations. Assist department with legal terms and conditions and boilerplate language. Compliance coordinator for Hospital Purchasing. This person will maintain the vendor documents required transactional and annual purchases per NYS guidelines. Will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the bid process. The Assistant must stay current with all New York State procurement rules and regulations and SUNY and Hospital procurement policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned by Hospital Purchasing Director or direct supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree and 3 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal, and proficiency in Microsoft Office required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with contract language preferred. Relevant experience in a customer service role or hospital and/or State setting preferred.
