Aerotek Forklift Operator (Warehouse) in Tacoma, Washington

Forklift Operator

Pay: $21/hour

Location: Tacoma, WA

Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm

Job Description

We are seeking a flexible and adaptable forklift operator to work in both a lumber yard and warehouse setting. The candidate must be comfortable working outdoors and willing to work either shift as business needs demand. The lumber yard shift is from 7am to 3:30pm, and the warehouse shift is from 9am until the final truck is loaded. Overtime is optional, and candidates who are willing to help out during busy seasons are preferred. Summer hours range from 44-50 hours per week, and winter hours range from 40-45 hours per week.

In the lumber yard, operators will handle 10k-12k hysters, lift pieces of lumber up to 60 feet, and use chainsaws to cut to specification while using a tape measure. Responsibilities include loading wood onto flatbeds, securing it, and using a bander machine to put bands around pieces of lumber. Additional duties include reading sales orders, noting special instructions, operating saw equipment, performing daily forklift inspections, assisting in moving and storing inventory, participating in inventory counts, and keeping lanes and areas clean and clear for traffic.

Work Environment

The position involves working outdoors in the lumber yard in all weather conditions and potential exposure to fumes from industrial-sized forklifts.
