Responsibilities

Job Summary:

This job is responsible for the coordination and oversight of pre- and post-analytical activities relating to the daily operations of a laboratory function in accordance with established business objectives and applicable accreditation/regulatory requirements. An incumbent serves as the point-person for issues impacting the assigned lab facility.

Work includes:

  • Timely, responsive and cost-effective staffing/scheduling of lab support staff for the assigned facility

  • Serving as liaison with various internal departments in coordinating and troubleshooting various business-related issues

  • Directly supervising staff engaged in lab-related work activities. An incumbent is a first-line “working supervisor”, and may spend a moderate amount of time (10%-20%) performinglaboratory work within scope of required licensure/certification

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements

Completion of a phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Technician course at a Vocational College or equivalent technical school and five years of progressively responsible related work experience in a clinical laboratory setting that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities, including one year in a related lead or supervisory role.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Washington State certification as a Medical Assistant OR Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist is required.

  • Current ASCP or AMT certification as a Phlebotomy Technician is preferred.
