OPS GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT II (Resource Management Project Assistant) – (37970662)

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and well-organized individual to provide natural and cultural resource project management assistance and support the Division of Recreation and Parks.

Florida State Parks span the entire state with 175 state parks and trails, the only state park system in the United States to be recognized four times with the gold medal award. Projects include natural community or hydrologic restoration, imperiled species monitoring, invasive species control, prescribed fire, and cultural resource protection. This position will be scheduled for up to 40 hours per week.

  Your Specific Responsibilities:

  This position assists in organizing, tracking, managing tasks, and ensuring the success of natural resource management projects across all Florida State Parks. Projects include, but are not limited to, natural community restoration, invasive species management, prescribed fire, and imperiled species management. Duties include assisting with project management tasks (e.g. reviewing and creating project scope of works and maps), tracking and managing data, providing quality control/review of resource management related documents, conducting project site-visits, assisting with statewide resource management trainings, and preparing, uploading, and distributing reports as needed. Other duties include assisting with research and collection permitting, participating in regular project update calls and virtual meetings, performing data entry, maintaining SharePoint pages, and performing other related tasks as required. This position will also assist with some procurement and financial tracking (database entry) for statewide projects managed by BNCR.

  Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  Knowledge of:

• Natural resource project management

• Florida natural communities and associated land management activities

• Native and invasive flora and fauna of the Southeast

• Project tracking principles and associated tracking software programs

• Resource management related data collection and mapping

• Office and administration procedures

• Biology, botany, geology, or other related earth sciences/ land management principles

  Skill in:

• Microsoft Office Suite especially Office 365, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Share Point, E-Mail, Adobe Acrobat, and online databases

• ArcGIS mapping software

  Ability to:

• Collect, organize, evaluate and analyze data

• Track projects including funding and expenditures

• Perform filing

• Prepare correspondence and administrative reports

• Operate and maintain office equipment

• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

• Coordinate work assignments

• Maintain effective working relationships with others

• Follow verbal and written instructions

• Learn new software programs and technical skills

  Preferred Qualifications:

• Two+ years of professional experience.
