POSITION SUMMARY:

The Emergency Services (ES) Transport Paramedic will operate on the ES Transport Services’ Team. The primary duty of the ES Transport Paramedic will be the safe and effective treatment and transport of patients on the ES Transport Services’ ambulance. The ES Transport Paramedic will respond to EMS Call-Center requests, prioritize patient care, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately.

As needed, the ES Transport Paramedic will function within the free-standing Emergency Departments and the main Emergency Department. While working in the Emergency Department, the ES Paramedic will collect and convey information to both their team members and the attending Physician regarding the health status of patients. The ES Paramedic will perform all duties identified in their job description, approved Medical Protocols, and departmental policy.

Skills will be validated by competency assessments under the License of the CRMC EMS Medical Director. The ES Paramedic will report to the Chief of ES Operations. They will serve as a member of the Healthcare team through active communication; documentation; feedback and assistance as needed or requested. The ES Transport Paramedic will attend meetings, education opportunities, and in-services as required by departmental policy, and contribute to the growth and development of their self and the CRMC ES Transport Services’ Team. The ES Paramedic will maintain good working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, and other hospital staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Regular, Punctual and dependable attendance

• Responds to CRMC EMS Transport Services Call-Center requests for the transport of patients from CRMC facilities

• Provides care in the out of hospital setting, serving as the primary care provider during interfacility transports

• Assesses, plans, implements intervention, and evaluates the appropriate level of patient care according to Florida scope of practice, CRMC EMS Protocols, and CRMC emergency department policies and procedures

• Performs diverse duties within the Emergency Department involving an extensive knowledge of protocols, medical techniques, equipment, and the use of a wide range of procedures

• Maintains competence in thorough patient care documentation and use of both EMS PCR and ED software

• Performs EMS hand off reports at facility destinations and reports appropriately to nursing staff and ED physicians

What you will do in this role:

  • Operate emergency medical vehicle and responds to calls for aid in emergent situations.

  • Evaluate patient condition to establish the right course of treatment.

  • Provide a variety of emergency medical treatment to injured, sick, or incapacitated persons.

  • Perform invasive procedures under adverse conditions.

  • Manage non-medical situations such as crowd control and protecting the valuables of a patient if necessary.

  • Lift and transport patients, ensuring patients remain stable during transport.

  • Communicate patient data and condition to professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

· Driver’s license – Must be active and current

· Florida Paramedic license required

· BLS-American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider issued card required

· ACLS-American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS provider card required

· PALS-American Heart Association or American Red Cross PALS provider card required

· EVOC-Emergency Vehicle Operations Course completion certificate, or equivalent required

· FEMA-100, 200, 700, 800 preferred

· ITLS-International Trauma Life Support provider card preferred
