Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Tallahassee office has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager. Tallahassee is located in the beautiful Red Hills region of North Florida, which the Nature Conservancy has called “one of America’s last great places.” As the capitol city of Florida and the home of two major universities, Tallahassee offers an affordable and highly livable community within a short distance of some of Florida’s most unspoiled coastline.

Key clients for our Tallahassee office include the City of Tallahassee, Leon County, architecture firms, developers, and others. Additionally, the Tallahassee office is one of Stantec’s key centers of expertise for federal projects, especially those serving the US Department of Defense. In this exciting role, you’ll experience a range of fascinating projects including site development, municipal utilities, parks and trails, and federal facilities. You’ll be surrounded by talented and experienced teammates with extensive experience in these diverse work areas.

Your Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a candidate with experience in professional practice, project management, and business development who can offer creative design skills balanced with a solid business approach. Projects include private site development, municipal engineering, and federal facilities.

This position requires the ability to manage significant projects, liaise with clients and government agencies, and effectively work with local and regional teams. In this exciting position, you will:

  • Develop and implement business development strategies for key clients and strategic pursuits

  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships and play a key role in client management and satisfaction.

  • Be involved in local professional societies and represent Stantec in the local community.

  • Lead complex community development infrastructure projects with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.

  • Mentor and empower junior staff and other team members.

  • Plan and manage projects and tasks to complete them on time and within budget.

  • Play a key role in maintaining and strengthening the design reputation of the Community Development team.

Qualifications

Your Qualifications, Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience with both private and public sector clients/projects and an established network of clients and relationships in the north Florida / Gulf Coast market.

  • Registered Professional Engineer in Florida

  • Successful experience in responding to Requests for Qualifications and Requests for Proposals.

  • Strong leadership, team building, emotional intelligence, relationship and communication skills.

  • Experience managing junior staff, client relationships and complex projects.

Your Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in Civil Engineering

Your Work Conditions

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
