POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Production Systems Services bureau, reporting to the Database Administration section. This is a full-time position that requires knowledge of data administration, data/process modeling concepts and techniques, relational database design, systems development methodology, and database administration. The position requires skill and experience in the highly technical database administration functions of Oracle database management system; SQL Server database management system; MySQL database management system; and, the numerous application databases that are maintained within them.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Testing and implementation of database systems;

  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing security measures to safeguard computer databases;

  • Management and administration of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL database software and databases;

  • Installing, configuring, patching, and maintaining Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL database software and databases;

  • Acting as a custodian of data integrity, efficiency, availability, and security within the organizations database data;

  • Providing database backup and recovery services;

  • Developing and maintaining utility programs, scripts, and routines for management of database systems on Red Hat LINUX and Windows server systems;

  • Providing network support services for database-related network technologies and adapters such as TNS, ODBC, JDBC, OLEDB and .Net;

  • Assisting in the establishment and enforcement of database administration policies, standards, and procedures;

  • Collaborating with business experts to develop and document database infrastructure or design requirements; and

  • Administration and support for multiple statewide applications.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience designing, developing, testing, documenting, and implementing databases, as well as implementing backup and recovery procedures;

  • Experience installing and maintaining Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL software and databases, as well as performing backup and recovery processes;

  • Knowledge of Oracle and MySQL data base management technologies in a UNIX/LINUX operating system environment;

  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server data base management technologies in a Windows operating system environment;

  • Knowledge of Oracle network connectivity;

  • Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL languages;

  • Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX operating system and commands;

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server operating system and commands;

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally;

  • Ability to work in a team environment;

  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple concurrent projects and work assignments; and

  • Ability to write technical data processing reports.

    BACKGROUND:

    FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants.
