Citigroup Lead Counsel 2 - Commercial Banking in Tampa, Florida

The Citi Commercial Bank provides high quality financial product advice and relationship management to its clients, from emerging corporate businesses to global and national industry leaders. The attorney in this role should be knowledgeable with the terms of commercial business loan documentation, including those related secured and unsecured lending, syndicated loan documentation, and cash management and trade and finance products.

The candidate will have numerous opportunities to learn about Citi's business banking segments, work directly with senior bankers and with members of other independent control functions, so they should have the ability to prioritize projects to facilitate long-term business success, identify and manage urgent matters and possess the desire to pursue learning opportunities and develop their skills.

This role and person will report to the Group Manager of CCB US Legal, which is a component of Banking & International Legal.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Focus on a variety of bilateral commercial lending arrangements and be generally familiar with syndicated loan document terms.

  • Delivery of legal services to CCB in the United States, and working with legal and other colleagues on domestic and cross-border CCB transactions and initiatives.

  • Participation in strategic planning and development and contribution to business objectives by applying knowledge of industry, laws and regulations Partnering with business/functional line management in recommending, developing and executing business initiatives within permissible statutory and regulatory frameworks

  • Management of day-to-day legal activities in areas of responsibility and as a legal advisor to business partners

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards

Qualifications:

  • At least 6-10 years of experience in the practice of law; commercial banking or related products and services experience required

  • Demonstrated ability to share knowledge and seek input from other lawyers in a collegial, though geographically diverse, environment

  • Confidence to work without regular day-to-day supervision and to manage outside counsel on a broad range of transactional matters

  • Ability to manage a moderate to high-volume workload, and to reach prompt, well-considered decisions

  • Experience working directly with demanding, results-oriented business clients Clear and concise written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of relevant laws and practices

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills

  • Bar license in good standing to practice law

  • Knowledge of cash management and treasury products a plus, but not required

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$140,640.00 - $210,960.00
