Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Initiate, perform and complete assigned duties in providing care to variablepatient populations.

  • Complete assigned patient care based on the patients’ conditions, use judgment inselecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, andaccurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information.

  • Observe, identify and respond to the patient’s needs for care, includingmedication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education.

  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous,intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according toestablished policies/procedures.

  • Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RNand/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.

  • Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practicesor procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnosticexamination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specializedequipment, and monitoring the patient’s condition before, during, and followingthe procedure.

  • Orient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies and procedures, skills, andstandards of practice.

  • Integrate healthy work environment principles that result in improved patienthealthcare delivery, education of patients and their families and employeesatisfaction.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree/Education: Must have successfully completed all education and training requirements leading to and graduated from an accredited national, state or military equivalent school for Practical Nursing.

  • Certification: Basic Life Support certification.

  • License: Must have and maintain throughout course of contract, a current, active, valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from a US jurisdiction.

  • Experience: Must have practiced as an LPN performing hands-on patient care in the inpatient clinical setting for at least 12 months within the past 24 months.

  • Licensure/Registration: Must have and maintain throughout course of contract, a current, active, valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from a US jurisdiction.

  • Citizenship: U.S. citizenship.  

  • Credentialing:  Ability to pass background check and drug screen. Current physical and immunizations. 

  • Physical Requirements:  You must be on the premises to perform the job. The environment is fast-paced and multifaceted, with conditions and duties that can change quickly throughout a shift.
