Summary The Program Support Assistant (PSA) works in the Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Service (MHBSS) under the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer, MHBSS. The incumbent performs various administrative tasks, office tasks, information retrieval, and data collection duties for program sections of MHBSS as defined by the approved organizational chart (Psychology, Psychiatry, Community Programs, Specialty Programs). Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to: Enters and tracks non-equipment IT service requests. Troubleshoots staff IT, space, and equipment issues and acts as liaison between program staff and MHSL Logistical Coordinator. Enters electronic work requests. Provides advice to the Administrative Officer or other appropriate program managers on the improvement of work results. Uses judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines for application to specific work problems. Gathers information to analyze and evaluate current management and organizational practices to determine the most efficient way. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/24/2024. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track suspense dates on project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc. Completes data related tasks such as entering, gathering, pulling, tracking, and summarizing program statistics and other data as needed to support the programs and communicates information to appropriate stakeholders for further action. Types a variety of documents into final form, ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and style. Coordinates activities with other administrative support staff and departments to ensure efficient flow of work. Performs any items pertaining to timekeeping operations for the needs of the service. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Generally minimal. The work is primarily sedentary although the incumbent may be expected to visit more work sites than most sedentary jobs.
