TECO Energy Senior Treasury Analyst in Tampa, Florida

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Senior Treasury analyst is responsible for executing cash management and accounting activities related to Peoples Gas System (PGS), TECO Gas Operations (TGOI) and subsidiaries with a focus on identifying daily cash requirements, recording debt activities, accurate and timely receipt/payment of debt borrowings, and other cash activities. This position performs the role with a competent understanding of accounting principles, applying analytical skills to the independent completion of routine to moderately complex assignments. Works with manager and upper management in continuing to demonstrate solid analytical skills, assisting with projects as needed.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Manage cash process for PGS and TGOI subsidiaries.

  • Analyze daily cash activities to identify immediate and long term borrowing needs to ensure availability of money for day to day activity and advances for subsidiaries

  • Analyze forecasted cash requirements to make borrowing and repayment recommendations

  • Forecast cash needs for 1 month periods

  • Initiate bank transfers as needed

  • Report daily cash positions to management and other internal departments as needed

  • Compiles and prepares journals and support related to short and long term debt, etc.

  • Maintain accurate records on existing debt and credit facilities

  • Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules to accurately record all debt including external/internal and short/long term

  • Prepare notices for and track borrowings levels under PGS credit facilities

  • Administer letters of credit

  • Facilitate issuance/amendments/terminations

  • Maintain documentation, track and report existing letters of credit

  • Calculate, process, pay and record debt payments and fees such as trustee fees, remarketing fees, rating agency fees, and administration fees

  • Research, analyze, and report on debt to management and other internal departments as needed

  • Maintain and provide debt information needed for FPSC and SEC filing requirements and budget/forecast activities

  • Support Accounting processes.

  • Timely and accurate completion of non-debt related journal entries, account validations, and other critical closeout and analysis activities, including ad hoc requests

  • Reconcile cash and debt accounts to ensure accuracy

  • Responsible for PGS escheatment process ensuring timely and accurate journal entry posting, remittance to governmental authorities, and record keeping to meet reporting requirements of all 50 states using specialized software for tracking escheatment requirements and deadlines.

  • Security administration for bank websites such as adding new users and reviewing entitlements on a quarterly basis.

  • Provide data and other ad hoc requests as needed during the course of rate cases.

What We’re Looking For

Must Haves:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a regionally accredited college/university

Minimum of 2 years of treasury/accounting work experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision; good verbal and written communications skills and the ability to interact effectively with others; detail oriented; above average organizational skills.

Nice-to-Haves:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a regionally accredited college/university

3 years of treasury and accounting experience; Regulated utility accounting experience; cash management experience

Certified Public Accountant or Certified Treasury Professional

Experience with SAP and bank software
