Trade Services Operations Compliance Controls & Monitoring position is located in Tampa, Florida. This unique First Line of Defense team is responsible for three main compliance activities within two groups: i) Conducting Trade Finance Due Diligence ii) Reviewing and dispositioning Sanction Alerts and Performing Post Processing compliance reviews.

We're seeking a Vice President to oversee First Line of Defense units responsible for performing Trade finance based due-diligence OR reviewing Sanctions related alerts and performing post processing compliance reviews.

The position requires a strong understanding of all international Trade Finance products and documentation including, Import, Export, and Standby Letters of Credit, and International Collections along with Trade Finance based Red Flag knowledge and Sanctions/OFAC.

You will supervise staff who reviews Trade documentation to identify, remediate, and escalate compliance issues. Teams are responsible for conducting extensive, complex investigations to identify potential suspicious financial and/or fraudulent activity, to include money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and/or another financial risk or crime.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the development of, including recommending and implementing, cost effective compliance strategies, policies, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of the laws applicable to money laundering, to include the BSA, AML, OFAC requirements, Antiboycott and Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements.

  • Review and research suspect items and/or transactions and report suspicious activity as required.

  • Communicate with AML Compliance Manager and/or Sanctions Manager any activity and trends that could implicate potential money laundering or terrorist financing.

  • Performs routine compliance tasks and deals with routine compliance issues, typically concerning documentation, reporting, etc. May assist in monitoring regulatory issues. Follows established guidelines and procedures.

  • Stay apprised of regulatory matters and developments through regular review of appropriate compliance publications and websites and by participating in relevant compliance conferences and other training events.

  • Applies knowledge of company policies and standard practices to resolve problems

  • Analyzes issues and uses judgment to make decisions. Escalates non-standard problems or issues

  • Understanding of banking and financial services, including an understanding of the various types of products, services, and transactions that are typical for the Branch

  • Analytical/Investigative skills to determine unusual or possible suspicious activity regarding transaction or account activities

Experience

  • 3-5 years in banking, with a strong emphasis on BSA, AML and OFAC laws and regulations.

  • Knowledge and experience in international trade and transaction workflows, sanctions and/or anti-money laundering laws and regulations and risk management.

  • Experience in analyzing or managing financial crime investigative processes

  • Experience preparing and writing disposition outcomes.

  • Experience interacting with senior managers and compliance subject matter experts

  • Collaborative with strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Process oriented coupled with a strong ability to develop appropriate program enhancing strategies

  • Detail-oriented and organized execution

  • Mentoring, Coaching, Building teamwork skills

  • Taking on new projects representing the team

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Education

  • College Degree preferred but not required. CAMS certification or specialized training preferred but not required.

The typical base range for this role is between $106 to $147K per year depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
