Acme Barricades Traffic Control Specialist - Tampa in Tampa, Florida
Must have the following to apply:
- Valid driver's license required, will require passing MVR and controlled substance test, may require background and criminal record check
- Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
Preferred:
- Minimum of two years in Maintenance of Traffic / Temporary Traffic Control or related industry (i.e. Road Construction, Highway Maintenance, Construction)
- High School Diploma/GED and ability to communicate clearly both written and verbally
Skills:
- Repeated effort including driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time, standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours), loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
- Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds
- Operating hand/power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively
- Working outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances
- Ability to work around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction site, including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities
- Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
- Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone
- Communicating clearly - both written and verbally, ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
- Working a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and/or holidays, adjusting to a changing work schedule, working overtime and working individually and as a team with other employees
- Must maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing

Job Description:
The Maintenance of Traffic Laborer is required to perform temporary traffic control operations in order to maintain traffic on a roadway construction project in a manner that protects and conveys the public in an efficient manner within a specified work zone. Certain duties will be under the supervision of an Advanced Maintenance of Traffic Laborer. This position requires performing a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
Perform the following duties - some self-directed and others under the supervision of an Advanced Maintenance of Traffic Laborer.
- Set-up and maintain traffic control devices, installation and service work-zone signs, and lights
- Set up and maintain assigned Maintenance of Traffic activity, including and detours and lane closures
- Coordinate services with the on-site client representative or officials
- Load and unload equipment into and out of company trucks
- Deliver / Pick-up equipment from customer jobsites
- Coordinate activities of traffic control laborers to ensure compliance with MOT guidelines
- Make recommendations on existing conditions to coordinate procedures for traffic maintenance activities
- Complete daily paperwork and reports as required by supervisor
- If an approved driver, may operate a company vehicle and maintain company standards with Motor Vehicle Record
