Beta Community Partnerships RS Staff Assistant (Overnight - Asleep) in Taunton, Massachusetts

The assistant is responsible for implementing Beta\'s mission statement through directly supporting individuals in all aspects of their lives. This includes supporting people in the areas of making choices, improving status, developing competencies, increasing community presence, and developing relationships. The assistants report to the Assistant Program Director overseeing that home. If there isn\'t an Assistant Program Director assigned, the assistant reports to the Program Director overseeing that location. On a shift to shift basis, the assistant will take direction from the advocate. Expectations General: - Acts as an appropriate role model in terms of appearance, social interaction, responsibility and judgment. - Fulfills all working hours according to designated schedule, provides adequate notice for time off requests and adheres to policies and procedures regarding absence or delay. - Has knowledge of and adheres to agency policies and procedures. - Is certified in First Aid and CPR. (Training provided) With Individuals Served: - Assists each individual in developing the skills to ensure optimal independent living. - Provides transportation as needed. - Supports the advocate in developing and participating in a wide range and culturally appropriate leisure activities with each individual. - Supports each person in obtaining medical services as required. - Ensures that the routines of the day are typical of the local community. Works to enhance the public image of the people of age. - Is trained in all appropriate medical protocols. Regarding Homes: - Ensures that people\'s homes and furnishings are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive state. - Maintains a respectful and courteous approach that it is the person\'s home and not your own. - Is familiar with safety procedures, including fire safety, electrical safety, water temperature, road safety, kitchen safety. security precautions, and any other safety measures, and attends or brings to the attention of the Program Director, the functions of heating, plumbing, electrical. - Has knowledge and understanding of emergency procedures, search and disaster plans, has ready access to pertinent telephone numbers, including the Director of Services, on-call procedure, fire and police departments, Sturdy Hospital and crisis intervention, and responds to medical needs. Regarding Community: - Assists and accompanies, if necessary, each individual in making use of community services. - Supports the relationships developed through the Community of Friends or elsewhere. - Supports individuals in developing and participating in a wide range of age Takes steps to increase the circle of supports for each individual served including ongoing contacts with family and friends. Documentation and Regulatory Compliance: - Maintains daily program logs with all pertinent data. - Reads all log entries subsequent to the last time worked. - Accounts for each individual\'s finances at the beginning and end of each shift. - Assists the advocate in supporting each individual with budgeting and proper financial documentation when requested or required. - Completes all documentation required of medical services. - Is trained in DPPC Reporting and Human Rights. Professionalism: - Maintains the confidentiality of any information relating to each individual. Maintains positive working relationships with Beta community members. Represents the agency in a positive manner when interfacing with families, friends, community members and service providers. - Accepts direction and supervision from appropriate management staff. - Accepts programmatic direction from advocates. - Adapts schedule to work major holidays, Banquet, and snow days. Training and Renewal: - Attends workshops and seminars required by supervisor. - Attends in-service trainings as specified by supervisor.
