As innovators in this space, we deliver new user patterns for shopping, new Services for managing and distributing product data, and new data types to integrate these together. We are looking for a Software Developer who wants to innovate with us, taking ownership and driving a new customer journey through the configurable shopping experience. The ideal candidate for this space should have a strong sense of ownership and some leadership experience delivering creative solutions for complex problems in large systems. You need a strong customer focus coupled with a passion for continuous, data driven improvements. This job requires a commitment to teamwork, agility, strong communication skills and being comfortable crossing org boundaries to get things done. Working in this scalable and high performance system requires exceptional technical expertise and a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science and large-scale distributed systems.

Key job responsibilities

The candidate must:

  • Operate full-stack, across front-end and back-end codebases;

  • Own interfaces between the distinct phases of the product purchasing pipeline;

  • Lead the software development lifecycle on one or multiple simultaneous projects;

  • Enter a periodic on-call rotation to address live-site issues;

  • Continually improve the operational excellence of the software, and the efficiency of the processes and mechanisms used by the team.

About the team

Amazon Custom develops and maintains a framework for providing the capability to buy and sell personalized, customized, or configurable products and services worldwide.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 1+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

  • 2+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Experience with JavaScript; middleware concepts including SOA and dependency injection; AWS technologies including serverless architecture; software development methodologies including Agile and/or Scrum.
