Amazon Supply Chain Manager I, Global Mile - Imports (Ocean) in Tempe, Arizona

Join Global Mile in eliminating borders for buyers and sellers to drive Amazon's expansion into a rapidly growing list of countries, creating new logistics benchmarks and "firsts" through disruptive innovation. We are a multicultural, multilingual team working with vendors, sellers, shippers, and logistics providers.

The Global Ocean Operations team is looking for an Ocean Supply Chain Manager to manage ocean capacity planning for freight moving from global manufacturing hubs into Amazon's international marketplaces. This role will be responsible for driving effective planning processes with internal teams such as forecasting, procurement, and operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background that enables them to manage multiple stakeholders across different programs, a demonstrated ability to think broadly and strategically about supply chain initiatives and the ability to persuade senior leaders to build consensus on objectives. Knowledge of international logistics is preferred.

Key job responsibilities

  • Take ownership for the development of SOPs, guidelines and new processes

  • Manage land-side performance in accordance to existing metrics; review and update metrics

  • Develop risk management strategies for seasonal peak volumes, identify at-risk operations and proactively develop/execute contingency protocols to avoid service failures

  • Support ocean carrier/terminal-related inquiries from destination operations partner teams

  • Engage ocean carriers and terminals to resolve land-side port/terminal issues

  • Retrieve and analyze data using Excel, Tableau, SQL or other data visualization tools

  • Successful candidates will be excellent communicators, curious, highly motivated and effective within distributed teams

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field

  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)

  • 2+ years of program or project management experience

  • 1+ years of supply chain experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field

  • Knowledge of SQL

  • 2+ years of supply chain experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $51,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $106,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
