Description

Amazon's Cross Border Execution (XBE) Team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transportation Specialist to assist in resolving stakeholder issues related to daily freight movements into and out of our North American fulfillment centers and associated fulfillment network. This exciting opportunity allows you to join a new team in a significant growth area for Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

  • Continual, tactical communication with external stakeholders (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal stakeholders (Retail, Finance, Software Support, Fulfillment Centers)

  • Ability to extract data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL, and/or other data management systems) and perform ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed

  • Publish performance metrics to assist in driving business results

  • Identify and eliminate root causes of defects to drive efficiency in Amazon's transportation operations

  • Quickly understand the business impact of trends and make data-driven decisions

  • Systematically escalate problems or variances in information and data to relevant owners and teams, and follow through on resolutions to ensure delivery

  • Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs while measuring and identifying activities performed

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to create a narrative outlining weekly findings, variances to goals, and present these findings in review forums

A day in the life

As a Transportation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of freight movements across Amazon's fulfillment network. Your day will involve collaborating with various stakeholders, both internal and external, to address transportation-related issues and drive process improvements. You will leverage your analytical skills to extract data from multiple sources, analyze trends, and identify root causes of defects. Your ability to communicate effectively will be essential as you present your findings and recommendations to relevant teams. Additionally, you will work within tight timelines to meet critical business needs while continuously monitoring performance metrics and identifying opportunities for optimization.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of working with computers and Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel) experience

  • High school or equivalent diploma

  • Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required

  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

  • Are 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain

  • Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP, CPIM)

  • Experience in root cause analysis and driving process improvements

  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies

  • Experience with SQL

  • Bachelor's degree
