State of Massachusetts Adaptive Equipment Fabricator in Tewksbury, Massachusetts
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking an Adaptive Equipment Fabricatorto play a crucial part in enhancing the quality of patient care through the fabrication, alteration, and repair of a diverse range of articles. In this role, you will engage with medical, rehabilitative, and psychiatric services staff to understand patients' equipment needs and specifications. You will create customized cushioning systems for patient equipment such as wheelchairs and beds, and adapt or repair patient clothing, accessories, furniture, and specialized items. You will exercise your creative expertise to measure, cut, and expertly sew finished products, ensuring that each item meets the highest standards of effectiveness and safety. Let your craftsmanship and attention to detail make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/ · Operate fabrication equipment to design and create customized cushioning systems for patient equipment, including wheelchairs and beds. · Execute the design, adaptation, and repair of patient clothing, accessories, furniture, and specialized items to enhance effectiveness and minimize injury, with a focus on cushions, padding, and strapping. · Utilize fabrication machinery, including sewing machines and hand tools, to measure, cut, and expertly sew a variety of finished products. · Maintain meticulous records and inventory of supplies and fabrication stock, ensuring efficient tracking and replenishment. · Collaborate with medical, rehabilitative, and psychiatric services staff to understand and address patients' equipment needs and specifications effectively. · Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality guidelines in accordance with HIPAA regulations. · Contribute to the overall efficiency of the Industrial Therapy Department by consistently upholding the highest standards of craftsmanship and safety. · Engage in discussions with team members to discuss and address any patient equipment-related concerns or requirements. · Demonstrate a commitment to excellence by consistently delivering high-quality fabrications that meet the standards of both medical professionals and patients. /_Required Qualifications:_//__/ · Ability to follow directions. · Knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques of sewing and related equipment. · Knowledge of the methods used in the care and maintenance of sewing machines and equipment. · Ability to understand and apply the laws, rules, policies, and procedures governing assigned unit activities. · Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others. · Manual dexterity and ability to lift and carry heavy objects. /_MA Department of Public Health Overview:_/_ The mission of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is to prevent illness, injury, and premature death, to assure access to high-quality public health and health care services, and to promote wellness and health equity for all people in the Commonwealth.
