Position Summary:

Assists school leadership in the direction, management of academic admissions and student affairs including implementing academic policy, plans and procedures for services to students and overseeing compliance for multiple academic programs in Houston, Laredo and Rio Grande Valley. Works with school leadership to ensure proper implementation of processes and develops reporting mechanisms for required review and approval through school, institutional and accreditation agencies. Serves as an administrative resource to faculty, staff and students.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Counsels and advises prospective and current students on graduate programs available at SBMI including admission requirement and procedures, student services and university policies, which includes travel to undergraduate campuses and national conferences for student recruitment.

  • Oversees the review of all program applications submitted for completeness. Ensures the review of applications and admissions recommendations are consistent and aligned with SBMI¿s admissions policies and procedures. Manages the tasks specific to the start of new application cycles in MyUTH, Radius Applicant Tracking System and website updates.

  • Serves as the liaison with the Registrar, the SBMI Admission, Progression and Graduation committee, the SBMI Scholarship and Awards Committee, SBMI Faculty, and Office of International Affairs regarding applicants and newly admitted students.

  • Supervises the maintenance of records and files; ensures adherence to confidentiality, and records management policies and procedures.

  • Manages SBMI¿s online orientation and registration each semester for new and/or returning students, disseminates information regarding graduation activities and related commencement and other special events for local and regional academic programs and recruitment.

  • Prepares statistical reports and analysis as needed regarding the applicant pool, admissions progression, student retention, graduation audits for school, institution and accreditation needs.

  • Reviews and makes recommendations to Directors and Associate Dean¿s for revisions to policies and procedures as needed to improve operations.

  • Facilitates the implementation of the newly established academic programs in MyUTH and the Radius Applicant Tracking System based on the agreed upon articulation agreements.

  • Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • None.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years’ experience in higher education administration.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
