The Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences atMcGovern Medical SchoolatUTHealth Houstonis currently recruiting for a clinical faculty position to provide Telepsychiatry services to Inpatient Psychiatric facilities in Texas. This is a remote position that will allow working in the comfort of your own home or local office.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, prescribe, and supervise treatment to assigned patients, in conformance with hospital bylaws, medical staff bylaws, SSLC policy

  • Assess persons, as assigned, in the admissions unit for admission to the state hospital(s) or SSLC

  • Round with members of the treatment team daily to review assigned patients.

  • Meet once a week on average with individual patients as clinically indicated

  • Participate in quality improvement activities to promote quality of care by attending in person monthly medical staff meetings and one monthly assigned committee meeting with completion of tasks assigned during these meetings.

  • Be on telemedicine duty and be available to see patients and consult with staff as requested during regularly scheduled working hours. Monday – Friday, 8-5p. No evening or weekend on-call duties.

  • Evaluate and complete medical certifications for commitment as clinically indicated, evaluate and complete documentation for court-ordered medications as clinically indicated, and provide testimony in court for commitment and court orders, via telehealth

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or equivalent degree;

  • Licensed or license eligible in the State of Texas;

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in general psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, and geriatric psychiatry or have completed accredited training in these specialty and sub-specialty areas in the United States;

  • Experience or interest in research and/or education is preferred
