The Department of History in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Visiting Assistant Professor United States History to begin January 2025. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses in U.S. history, specifically both halves of the U.S. history survey. The position is for three semesters, from January 2025 to May 2026.

At Texas Tech University, the Visiting Assistant Professor title designates a full-time, non-tenure-acquiring role with primary duties in teaching organized classes and/or instructional labs.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: experience teaching both halves of the United States History survey, experience teaching online classes, and an established research agenda commensurate with the standards of a research-intensive university.

About the College:

Founded in 1925 as one of the university's four original colleges, the College of Arts & Sciences is comprised of 15 departments, offering a wide variety of courses and programs in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, and natural sciences. About the Department/School/Area:

The History Department at Texas Tech is a vibrant place, home to 34 faculty members who regularly publish innovative research. We commonly serve more than 5,000 undergraduate students each semester, nearly 200 of whom are majors, with an additional 300 minors and area concentrations. Faculty Qualifications:
