We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Advisor Geomatics Data within our IT Geospatial Ops, Geomatics & Remote Sensing group based in The Woodlands, TEXAS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as subject matter expert for geomatics data within IT Geo Tech & Data (GTD) team.
  • Create innovative solutions to improve processes, workflow, best practices, and service delivery.
  • Definition, implementation, and maintenance of policies, standards (application, acquisition, and delivery), procedures, and guidelines relating to survey data.
  • Promoting naming conventions, industry-standard acronyms, codes, units of measure & symbols.
  • Coordinate activities with survey companies and monitor progress to ensure survey results are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinates the transfer of survey data to the GTD team for interface into SDE.
  • Create and maintain ETL to integrate spatial and non-spatial data from various sources, including Oxy's SoRs.
  • Ensures accurate and timely communication of daily operational and project-related updates to stakeholders.
  • Reviews survey data for completeness and accuracy and provides clarification and/or interpretation for resolution to any questions or discrepancies found.
  • Recognizing and fixing errors & inconsistencies in geospatial data and fundamental workflows while managing implications of moving data and maps to avoid data connection issues in managing geospatial data.
  • Know how and when to apply datum transformations, recognize, troubleshoot, and repair coordinate reference issues in existing datasets, and determine which projection was likely used for a historical dataset.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree Geodesy, Geomatics, Geospatial Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience working in upstream oil & gas industry.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in geodetic control and ground deformation projects.
  • Strong understanding of Geosciences, Geophysical and Geological Data.
  • Proficiency in Geodetic Datums, Coordinate Reference Systems, Conversions and Transformations.
  • Proficiency in raster operations, conversions, corrections, analysis, appearance, distance operators, raster math, statistical, surface.
  • Proficiency in processing: LiDAR, SAR, DInSAR, and Radargrammetry.
  • Proficiency in processing: GNSS, PPP, RTK, VRS, SLAM, BIM data.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, FME Desktop, Geographic Calculator, Global Mapper.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to understand customer requests which are frequently in non-technical terms.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Geodesy, Geomatics or Remote Sensing.
  • InSAR and LiDAR certification.
  • Geographic Information System Professional certification (GISP).
  • Functional knowledge in Python, Jupyter Notebook, RStudio.
  • Functional knowledge in in AI, Deep Learning, Machine Learning based on raster data.
  • Excellent people skills with ability to engage at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot geospatial data related issues.
  • Creative and critical thinker with focus on process improvement and efficiencies.
  • Ability to prioritize work with low levels of supervision.
  • Self-driven with a positive attitude and open to new ideas and methodologies.

 

Relocation  will not be provided.
