Robert Half Assistant Controller in the Woodlands, Texas

Description

Our manufacturing client is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join a privately held company as they succession plan for an upcoming retirement. In this newly created role, you will be responsible for establishing accounting processes, and ensuring seamless financial operations across the organization. Proficiency in Energy Trading is preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong background in financial management, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to establish processes to ensure efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and resolve financial integration challenges, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

  • Design and implement standardized accounting processes and procedures for the entire organization.

  • Streamline financial reporting, consolidation, and analysis processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.

  • Identify opportunities for automation and system enhancements to optimize financial operations.

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Analyze financial data, perform variance analysis, and provide insights to management for effective decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain financial reporting packages for senior leadership and stakeholders.

  • Monitor key financial metrics, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations, and Legal, to ensure effective communication and coordination during acquisitions and integration processes.

  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation preferred.

  • Public accounting experience preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and consolidation.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
