Timber Products Company Warehouse Operations Manager in Thomson, Georgia

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for operational oversight of all transloading operations, shipping/receiving & inventory management in TP Trucking/Logistics warehouse in Thomson, Georgia. Responsibilities include safely loading and unloading trucks and rail cars and ensuring the proper documentation, counts, and storage of inventory. Works collaboratively with the facility team, drivers and customers to ensure all processes are conducted safely and efficiently manner.

MAJOR TASKS:

  • Monitors and manages Key Performance Indicators and cost factors impacting operational effectiveness through promotion and leadership in continuous improvement efforts

  • Uses forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload trucks, rail cars, and intermodal containers. Ensures efficient utilization of warehouse space.

  • Ensures trucks are loaded accurately according to instructions from the customer in accordance with established procedures recording items utilizing the company’s IT systems.

  • Monitors and maintains all equipment utilized including all preventive maintenance and repairs in accordance with manufacturer requirements

  • Promotes and monitors employee safety and takes proactive steps to create safety culture. Communicates potential safety issues with Safety Coordinator.

  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

  • Adheres to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

    SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 years operations management, preferable in break bulk/wood products industry, in receiving, loading/unloading trucks, railcars and maintaining warehouse inventory.

  • High School Degree or GED.

  • Must have the ability to operate forklift including certification exceeding 15,000lbs.

  • Excellent communication, listening and organizational skills

  • Strong math skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate inventory records.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, drivers, and customers.

  • Management of 3-5 employees.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and email, and the ability to learn and use company specific software.
