Looking for someone who is interested in joining our team at the Active Adult Center, that will come in on weekends to clean/set-up rooms in between events. Hours will vary depending on scheduled events.

Under general supervision, maintains and provides basic custodial care for the entire facility during operational hours, to include appropriate locker rooms where applicable, at an assigned facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs various combinations of sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning restroom facilities and fixtures, and replenishing restroom supplies during operational hours. Empties and cleans waste receptacles. Washes windows, mirrors and walls with non-toxic chemicals.

May be responsible for maintaining appropriate locker rooms when assigned to a Recreation Center; which may consist of mopping floors, cleaning mirrors, and cleaning lockers, showers and sinks.

Completes or assists with room rental set-ups.

Assists with supervising various areas of the assigned facility. May assist Building Supervisor on nights or weekends.

Ensures all possible safety measures are observed.

Reports any issues and/or concerns to supervisor/management staff.

Responds to emergency situations as required and maintains accurate accident and incident reports.

Complies with City and departmental rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.

May be responsible for opening and closing doors of assigned facility when necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

Must be at least 16 years of age. Previous cleaning experience preferred.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:

May need the ability to travel to various locations in a timely manner as the job requires.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the policies, procedures and goals of the City of Thornton and the department.

Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques and procedures.

Knowledge of custodial maintenance safety procedures.

Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.

Skill in dealing tactfully and effectively with the public.

Ability to work with the public.

Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays, or flexible schedules.

Ability to work well with others.

Ability to read, understand, and apply instructions.

Ability to perform janitorial duties, such as sweeping, vacuuming and mopping.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions appropriately.

Ability to work in a high usage, leisure facility environment.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, climb, crawl, repeatedly twist the upper body, talk, hear, see, and demonstrate manual dexterity, and must be able to lift 50 pounds repetitively. The employee must demonstrate the ability to remain calm during routine and stressful conditions.
