SUMMARY: A teacher will perform effective teaching methods to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students.
This course is structured to prepare students for careers in the field of animal science and entry level Veterinary Medicine. The Veterinary Assisting program is designed to provide students with the functional knowledge of a veterinary office, veterinary anatomy and pharmacology, animal behavior and nutrition, and clinical procedures in veterinary practices. Topics covered in this course include veterinary practices as they relate to both large and small animal species. Students will be exposed to authentic experiences with local veterinary and animal shelter facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities
Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
Participate in ongoing training sessions.
Create lesson plans and modify them accordingly throughout the year.
Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.
Utilize various curriculum resources and technologies to enhance student learning.
Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
Utilize District curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. - Prepare and distribute parent communications.
Observe and evaluate a student's performance.
Manage student behavior in the classroom creating appropriate behavior strategies.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Hold an Associate’s degree or higher in related coursework or
Hold earned, valid Veterinary Technician Certification
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
Criminal background check required for hire.
Must have, or be able to obtain from, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), a CTE Endorsement in Secondary CTE Veterinary Science.
Must have, or be able to obtain from, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), a valid Colorado Career and Technical Educator Certificate within 30 days of hire.
SALARY INFORMATION (FOR EXTERNAL CANDIDATES):
All salary placement on ourCertified Salary schedule (https://www.adams12.org/our-district/careers/teach) is dependent on the employees’ education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of ten (10) years, which includes in-district and out-of-district contractual teaching and/or work experience. Responsibility for verification of outside experience shall rest with the individual employee. Internal Candidates Only:
13.2.5 Voluntary transfers that occur fifteen working days before the start of the school year and until the end of the school year shall happen once the position being vacated has been filled, for a duration of no more than four weeks. This four week time period could be adjusted in consultation with the educator, current and receiving supervisor and with approval from the Chief Human Resources Officer and the Association President.
