Job Description

This position functions as a Lead Intelligence Analyst for the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) Southern Region. This position provides resource direction to this agency and external partners by producing complex case support and provide senior analytic guidance and review of any products prior to dissemination, such as assessments, reports, charts, maps, and graphs to display and disseminate criminal activity information. This position provides subject matter expertise (SME) and analytical support to all law enforcement entities within Michigan for any criminal investigation. This position provides briefings of possible threats to leadership and partner entities as necessary. This position will be a lead worker, overseeing the work of other Departmental Analysts in work area, as well as provide training.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.

Alternate Education and Experience

Departmental Analyst 12

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.

Additional Requirements and Information

  • Thorough knowledge of departmental policies and procedures and facility operating procedures.

  • Ability to plan, develop, assist with research, evaluate, and improve Intelligence Section programs.

  • Must also have computer knowledge in the use of department approved software (Data IQ, OMNI, STG Database, Prisoner E-Messaging System, Prisoner Phone System, Visitor Tracking, etc.) and hardware.

  • Must effectively communicate with others and maintain favorable relations with both departmental and non-departmental personnel.

  • Ability to set priorities.

  • Ability to review policies and procedures in the management of information and intelligence.

  • Ability to work independently and perform self-initiated assignments based on assessment of need.

  • Ability to communicate verbally/in writing (reports, evaluations, etc.) with various law-enforcement officials at all levels of government.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
