Reyes Holdings Assistant Warehouse Manager in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico

Position Summary:

The Assistant Warehouse Manager leads and supports the warehouse operations for Martin Brower’s Puerto Rico Distribution Center. In this 24-7 multi-temp environment, this position is responsible for achieving safety, service and finance goals, through continuous improvement initiatives, innovation and through leadership of the warehouse supervisory team and warehouse employees.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Develop and administer cost effective operational schedules

  • On going warehouse employee/inventory control/supervisor training

  • Responsible to ensure that department achieves operational goals (monthly, quarterly, yearly basis)

  • Ensure quality standards are achieved for all good shipped and received and that the facility and equipment remains maintained

  • Maintain and monitor food safety activities in compliance with company and customer standards

  • Partner with Warehouse Manager to provide oversight to warehouse slotting locations, racking, cycle counts and inventory of products

  • Ensure annual performance goals are met or exceeded, including on-time dispatches, quality, productivity, labor cost and product loss and damage

  • Review and approval of weekly payroll

  • Act as a Leader in order to achieve Martin Brower PR Goals and Objectives

  • Demonstrate teamwork and maintain a positive attitude

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across the company

  • Ensure a high level of interactivity to maximize co-operation between all departments

  • Communicate goals, objectives, strategies, results and plans

  • Work with Warehouse Manager to develop and implement department policies, standardize, and document operating procedures

  • Cross-train with warehouse supervisors to foster teamwork, understanding of the business challenges and requirements, and provide occasional vacation coverage if required

  • Foster an environment of positive employee relations and employee involvement

  • Responsible for the safety of all employees and visitors through compliance of Martin Brower’s Health & Safety policies and local legislation

  • Investigation of accidents and incidents to ensure all reporting is completed

  • Develop and administer safe warehouse training programs

  • Ensure department recognizes and operates in an environmentally competent manner

  • Support the warehouse manager with warehouse workers and supervisor hiring process and content development for warehouse/staff meetings

  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure appropriate staffing levels throughout the year and any employee concerns are promptly and appropriately addressed

  • Direct and monitor employees to ensure quality standards are achieves for all goods shipped and received

  • Oversee labor relations by managing grievance procedures, discipline, employee concerns, etc., within the parameters of employee handbook

  • Ensure compliance with industry, company, and sanitation standards, including making sure physical plant and warehouse equipment is free from hazards and meets legislated requirements

  • Participate in budgeting, operational planning and procurement decisions within the department

  • Uses financial information and knowledge to analyze options and guide quality decision making

  • Through daily operational oversight, identify opportunities for financial efficiencies and work with department colleagues to develop and implement innovations and ideas to that end

  • Participate in training, inspection, investigation and continuous improvement programs

  • Other projects or duties as assigned

    Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management or related

  • A total of 5-10 years progressive warehouse supervisory experience, with a focus on strong leadership and relationship building skills

  • Must be fully bilingual: Spanish & English, verbal and written

  • Willing to work any shift and any schedule due to our 24/7 environment and travel, periodically, as required, for travel related to trainings

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to work on cross-functional teams

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)

  • Experience in a high-velocity distribution environment would be a strong asset

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

  • This position must pass post-offer background and drug test

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Food distribution experience a plus

  • Kronos knowledge
