ProMedica Health System Maintenance Mechanic - Facilities - Full Time - Days in Toledo, Ohio

ProMedica Toledo Hospital is one of the largest acute-care facilities in the region. Our 794-bed hospital is staffed by more than 4,800 professional healthcare employees who serve a 27-county area throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. POSITION SUMMARY Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine-to-skilled maintenance duties in the operation, alteration and corrective maintenance of building facilities, equipment, and utility systems. Performs a variety of scheduled and unscheduled mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and other related duties with priority given to patient comfort and safety. Requires sound judgment and rapid decision making abilities during system failures to avoid injury to persons or damage to equipment. This worker may be required to perform any or all of the job duties listed below.

ACCOUNTABILITIES Required to attend mandatory training and pass any associated tests. Must be able to travel within the ProMedica Health System. Will be required to use computerized work order System. On Call hours may be required on an as needed basis.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Trade school diploma or degree from technical school. Skills: Must have working knowledge of electricity, fire safety codes, refrigeration and air conditioning codes. Years of Experience: 1-2 years previous experience in similar position in an institutional setting. License: Valid Driver’s License.

WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Eye and Face protection, Respirator/CAPR mask with medical clearance

Physical Demands:

Works in precarious or high locations, ladders/scaffolding, etc. Possible exposure to electrical/mechanical/power equipment hazards. Must be able to move, lift or carry materials or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds up to 55% of the time; 20 pounds 10% of the time. Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently, or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure that the requirement of this position can be fully met. Frequent reaching/stooping/bending/kneeling/crouching/prolonged standing/walking. Possible exposure to Confined Spaces and low voltages. Must be able to perform and understand Lock out Tag out procedures. Handles crisis or emergency situations and responds to appropriate building codes.
