TEKsystems OSP (Outside Plant) Technician in Toledo, Ohio

Job Title: OSP Technician

Job Summary: The OSP Laborer is responsible for assisting in the construction and maintenance of outside plant telecommunications infrastructure. This role involves working under the guidance of experienced technicians and foremen to ensure the proper installation and maintenance of fiber optic cables, conduits, and other related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trenching and Excavation: Dig trenches and holes for the installation of conduits and cables.

  • Conduit and Cable Installation: Lay conduits and install fiber optic cables in trenches and through existing conduits.

  • Equipment Operation: Operate a variety of hand and power tools, as well as construction equipment, such as trenchers and boring machines.

  • Site Preparation and Cleanup: Prepare job sites for construction activities and ensure they are clean and safe upon completion.

  • Utility Location: Assist in locating existing utilities to avoid damage during excavation and installation.

  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

    Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in construction or telecommunications is preferred but not required.

  • Skills: Ability to operate hand and power tools, basic understanding of construction practices, and ability to follow instructions.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.

  • Certifications: OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain it is preferred.

    Work Environment:

  • Field Work: Majority of the work is performed outdoors at various job sites.

  • Team Collaboration: Frequent interaction with technicians, foremen, and other laborers to ensure project success.
