Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Student Imaging Assistant supports the needs of the Imaging team with the use of the Radiology Information System/PACS, basic computer skills, and excellent communication skills.

Essential Job Functions

• Organizes rooms, stocks linen, changes and properly removes linen.

• Uses two patient identifiers prior to transporting patients to and from Radiology that are not requiring patient monitor or high flow oxygen.

• Properly operates stretchers, patient beds, and wheelchairs.

• Reviews daily department schedules in order to work efficiently with the Imaging team members.

• Maintains office and medical supplies in all Imaging areas and informs team leader when supplies need to be ordered.

• Responds to patients and visitors promptly and politely.

• Operates radiographic equipment and accessories in accordance with the principles of ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable).

Licensing/Certification

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)

• 1 Clinical semester completed in an imaging program, currently enrolled (required)

Work Experience

• 1 year of patient care experience (preferred)Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred)

Shift:

Monday - Friday, weekends, holidays, on call
