Humana Lead DevOps Engineer in Topeka, Kansas

Are you passionate about applying technology solutions towards the mission of transforming health care delivery? As the Lead DevOps Engineer within the Clinical IT - Operational & Partner Success organization, you will perform a vital role in defining, executing, and evolving our software and infrastructure delivery lifecycle practice to continuously improve the time-to-value, quality, and availability of software solutions. In this role, you will primarily be working with technologies such as, Azure DevOps, .NET, PowerShell, SQL Server, and Windows Server.

The ideal candidate for this role will need to have a passion for creating innovative solutions using technology and excels at adapting to change in complex, fast paced environments.

  • Lead the service offering execution, work breakdown, and standardization of practice for a team of DevOps engineers in alignment with established enterprise governance policies to successfully deliver high quality software solutions

  • Collaborate with Enterprise DevOps Engineering team to establish and execute upon maturity models, capability assessments, and roadmaps

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration between development, quality, security, and operations to deliver and steer initiatives that mature CI/CD practices

  • Build, utilize, and report key metrics (such as DORA) to inform on software delivery - continuous improvement initiative direction and efficacy

  • Identify, implement, and maintain use cases that would increase efficiency, quality, or stability through the introduction of task or process automation

  • Establish governance in coordination with enterprise infrastructure and segment architecture teams for the selection, provisioning, administration, and disaster recovery of infrastructure necessary for the hosting of software solutions

  • Facilitate documentation and maintenance of environment and infrastructure mapping aligned with segment application portfolio

  • Partner with operational stakeholders on the development and execution of application and technology lifecycle management practices for supported assets

  • Drive remediation for aligned security incidents

  • Mentor and guide team members

  • Assist prompt resolution of system and environment issues impeding software delivery

  • Build strong relationships and foster positive team dynamics

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

  • 7+ years technical experience in software, network, or systems engineering supporting design, analysis, configuration and maintenance of complex software solutions, based on a thorough knowledge of systems engineering and programming concepts and techniques

  • 3+ years’ experience working on automated pipelines to enable Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery practices

  • Excellent communication, presentation and leadership skills

  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and deadlines with strong attention to details

  • Demonstrated history of learning agility with various hosting and runtime environments for on-premises, cloud, and SaaS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications (Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Network+, etc.)

Work-At-Home Requirements

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.

Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$126,800 - $174,500 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
