Oracle Manager, Storage Architect and Operations in Topeka, Kansas

Job Description

With your superb technical, research and analytical capabilities and demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively to delight our customers, you'll partner with the existing leaders in the organization to drive innovation and be a force multiplier for the next generation of engineers on how to take on such projects. You will collaborate with executives for investment and drive the design and development of storage services as part of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure for Industries.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Recommend business operations process improvements and serve as an escalation point for all capacity issues for storage services.

  • Develop analytical models to forecast resource usage and build out an 18-month capacity demand plan for each component.

  • Drive execution for on-time, on-scope delivery of racks to the data centers and their subsequent installation, cabling, provisioning and ingestion by the service team.

  • Work across internal teams and partner with them to ensure that storage services have adequate capacity available to them whenever needed.

  • Partner with the Data Center Operations and other internal teams to determine when end-of-life hardware needs to be retired and drive the decommissioning program.

  • Help define and deliver complex programs with competing priorities by influencing roadmaps and priorities of key stakeholders.

  • Ensure that hardware resource requirements needed to support a particular program/initiative are in place.

  • Provide on-going written and verbal status updates to senior leadership.

  • Thrive and succeed in an innovative and fast-paced environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or conflicting priorities.

  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate, and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.

  • Design and build storage services that are scalable, reliable, and performant.

  • Develop architectures for new services and contribute to the strategic direction across our products.

  • Build robust automation for the hands-off operation of services in production.

  • Work with other Architects, Product Managers, Executives, and others to develop product definitions and roadmaps.

  • Act as a leader in our organization; ensure engineering teams are aligned with strategic vision; drive consensus and understanding on technical issues.

  • Drive customer-focused solutions to completion on time.

  • Mentor junior engineers and help grow talent within our team.

  • Provide technical guidance and constructive feedback to leadership, team members, and other stakeholders.

  • Maintain both integration and production systems as part of an operations-focused culture.

  • Raise the bar for engineering quality and best practices.

  • Creating compelling value propositions for Oracle’s solutions.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering, architecture or development experience.

  • Experience managing cloud development projects, especially in the storage space.

  • Experience in high tech, S/W environment, familiarity with Compute/Storage solutions

  • Experience in data center operations

  • Experience with project planning

  • Experience operating cloud services or large distributed applications in production.

  • Familiarity with data management systems such as databases (Oracle DB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra), and other open-source technologies (Elasticsearch, Redis, Etc.).

  • Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable with complex, swiftly evolving cloud environments.

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and drive, follow, evangelize, and improve cross-team processes.

  • Expert knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts and technologies.

  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $80,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
