Production Manager, Surfacing & Paint

Position Summary

Under general leadership, the Production Manager, Surfacing and Paint leads the movement of product through the production area, ensures that product is in the process at all times, plans and organizes work for smooth operations that builds Classic and Turbo cars that shape and represent the Restored, Reimagined, Reborn product experience, and ensures that standard operating and engineering procedures are current and accurate and all work is done in compliance, ensuring maximum quality in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for production including daily production planning, delivery to plan, production cost, first time yield, safety, quality targets, and production staffing

  • Maintains high product quality, safety and yield while ensuring optimal cost, use of resources and adherence to best safety practices

  • Hires, coaches, leads, and develops large scale teams made up of salaried and hourly team members

  • Ensures all team members are appropriately equipped and trained to perform their required daily tasks safely

  • Supports upgrades, new product, and material introductions by supporting design teams, creating process plans, tracking budget costs and project schedules, and developing countermeasures for timely completion of project goals

  • Drives Safety and Environmental compliance

  • Creates a safe working environment and ensures workplace safety best practices

  • Drives high quality standards in everything we do such as process control systems, monitoring and managing key product metrics, consistency in documentation, and 5S initiatives

  • Develops and delivers continuous improvement initiatives in safety, environmental, quality, cost, efficiency, and productivity objectives. Provides feedback to management on issues.

  • Leads by example of positive reinforcement and makes Singer a World Class Manufacturing organization

  • Collaborates across boundaries for the best outcome by working with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, and Quality departments

  • Manages the surfacing, paint prep, paint finish, and paint processes for the production of Singer Classic and Turbo builds

  • Manages Classic and Turbo production labor cost rates at or below operating plan

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Education/Experience

  • Trade certifications

  • Eight plus (8+) years of leadership and technician experience in automotive, aerospace, restoration, and or manufacturing

  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced flexible automotive shop environment

Preferred Education/Experience and/or Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

  • Automotive Lean or Six Sigma manufacturing

  • Experience within luxury automotive industry or equivalent brand industry preferred

  • Automotive certifications are highly valued

  • 12+ years of experience in automotive, aerospace, restoration, and or manufacturing

  • Prior experience in rapid growth business environment

Skills/Abilities and Attributes

  • Strong data analytics, presentation, and reporting experience and abilities to generate and present information to the organization, including the creation of accurate metrics and narrative describing operating results, root cause analysis for problems, and opportunities for improvement

  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrates leadership by working in a cross-functional team environment with other functional groups to achieve company-wide goals

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively

  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a high-performance, fast-paced, team environment and work to multiple deadlines

  • Ability to adapt within a constantly changing environment

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently

  • Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production

  • High attention to detail

  • Positive attitude, high energy, outstanding work ethic, and thrives

  • Knowledge of basic computer skills, including MS Office Suite

  • As required, must maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a good driving record and appropriate insurance limits and/or be insurable under the Singer’s company vehicle insurance policy

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Must be able to travel for business, including occasional travel by commercial airplane

  • Must be able to work in a seated or standing position for extended periods

  • Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms at a computer keyboard for extended periods

  • Must be able to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone

  • Must be able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move with up to 25 lbs. of force

  • Must be able to inspect automotive parts

  • Must be able to work extended hours or overtime

Compensation

The starting pay range for this position is between $111,600 - $139,500 per year. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
