Robert Half Sales Assistant in Torrance, California

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Sales Assistant in Torrance, California. This role is critical in our sales division, where you will be managing customer accounts, performing marketing functions, and supervising sales staff within the division. The Sales Assistant will also contribute to the team effort, maintain professional and technical knowledge, act on constructive feedback, improve processes, and uphold work standards.

Responsibilities:

• Achieve sales targets and operate within budgetary guidelines

• Communicate with or visit current and potential distributors and customers to increase sales

• Analyze sales trends and operating efficiency, product presentations, and best practices to maximize profit

• Research and identify potential customers and develop proactive sales methods

• Develop new business opportunities at trade shows, distributors, and industry events

• Contact customers and distributors regularly via telephone, e-mail, letters and in person to ascertain their needs and keep business and information flowing smoothly

• Follow up on past-due accounts to ensure that all collections are completed

• Provide price quotes, proposals, and credit terms to current and prospective customers

• Identify customer needs or problems in a timely manner, and report all problems to the necessary parties

• Attend trade shows and other events as necessary to grow the business

• Ensure that all sales staff work together as a cohesive team to achieve division goals

• Use tools provided by the company (phone, fax, e-mail) in order to maximize productivity and to accomplish tasks on time

• Keep management informed by participating in meetings; and by reporting problems to Management verbally or in writing in order to avoid confusion and further problems

• Perform general administrative duties by writing and distributing reports and other correspondence; by distributing mail and faxes when necessary; by accurately filing and maintaining documents; by making copies; and by performing other administrative duties as needed

• Contribute to the team effort by being flexible in work assignments; by covering for other staff as needed; and by accomplishing related tasks when requested

• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by keeping up on industry trends; and by applying that knowledge to the job.

• Act on constructive feedback by being open to feedback from peers, Supervisors, and clients; and by using the feedback to improve performance.

• Improve processes by examining departmental work processes, research procedures, administrative procedures, etc.; and by recommending changes where appropriate.

• Uphold work standards by maintaining professional conduct and appearance; by realizing one’s own limitations and seeking assistance when needed; and by using established communication channels. Requirements • Proficiency in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software

• Competence in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and record keeping

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suites including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook for daily tasks

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word for drafting and editing documents

• Knowledge of 'About Time' software for time tracking

• Ability to handle cash activity and maintain accurate records

• Expertise in completing closing processes efficiently

• Experience in handling customer complaints and implementing solutions

• Familiarity with interacting and communicating with C-Suite level executives

• Proven experience in providing administrative assistance and support.
