Guthrie CNA Trainee/Unit Assistant-Skilled Nursing Unit-Full Time in Towanda, Pennsylvania
Summary
Provides general support tasks (non-clinical) for assigned care area. Works with other members of the patient care team to deliver care to specific populations. Expectation is for the Nurse Trainee to transition into a Certified Nurse Aid role once completion of training has occurred
Experience
Education and experience with computers preferred.
High School Graduate or equivalent
Licenses

Essential Functions
Participates in the delivery of patient care for population specific groups under the direction of an RN including but not limited to the following:
Delivery and retrieval of meal trays and general nutrition items
Stocking of supplies and nutrition items
Delivery of specimens to appropriate departments
Equipment cleaning
Patient room setup for new resident arrival
Deliver clean linen
Assist with personal laundry
Provide fresh water as diet order allows
Participates in patient safety/patient satisfaction.
Answers call bells promptly
Answering unit phone calls promptly
Maintains neat and tidy environment (empties laundry, delivers equipment, nutrition area support, clean and safe environment).
Assures proper storage of equipment.
Returns equipment to specified locations
Recognizes emergency situations and initiates plan of action
Complies with policies and procedures of the hospital/nursing department.
Supports the philosophy of the hospital and department of nursing.
Represents the hospital to patients/families and health care team in a professional, courteous manner while being sensitive to how others perceive both verbal and non-verbal communications.
Demonstrates cost-effective patient care by demonstrating proper use and care of equipment, appropriate and prudent use of supplies, accurate charging of supplies, performing other division-specific tasks, and appropriate utilization of available resources.
Demonstrates initiative in completing work that needs to be done as defined in the employee’s areas of responsibility.
Participates in performance improvement activities to improve service and care.
Other Duties
Assists in the orientation of new personnel and serves as a role model to other employees.
Utilizes time between patient care to maintain clean and orderly work environment and help with other duties.
Demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments as appropriate.
Is authorized to access secured storage areas in the performance of essential job functions and duties.
